Affordable, Abundant Homes
A shortage of affordable homes is pricing too many hardworking people out of Fort Collins. Rising costs are hurting families, small businesses, and schools. My top priority is to make Fort Collins a leader in affordability through a common-sense approach that:
Expands Housing Options
Affordable duplexes, triplexes, fourplexes, townhomes, and cottage courts are too often missing from our neighborhoods. These kinds of homes are beautiful, walkable, and crucial for affordability. They can be found in the older parts of our city, but we need more. On council, I will work to give people flexible housing options for all.
Ensures Stable Communities
A secure home anchors us to our community. When a family is evicted, we all feel the strain. Kids are taken out of school midyear, businesses lose customers, and neighbors lose connections. I will continue to fight for affordable housing dollars and champion a community-wide stability fund for emergency rental assistance, and tenant legal aid.
Promotes Homes for Families
Families build vibrant neighborhoods, but today, many parents struggle to find affordable homes that meet their needs. I’ll continue to fight for more housing options for families of all shapes and sizes. My experience on the board of Habitat for Humanity Fort Collins gives me firsthand knowledge of what works.
Cuts Red Tape
You shouldn’t have to wait months or years for permission to build a modest home on your property. But in Fort Collins, long delays and high fees, especially for ADUs, are holding us back. Every day lost to red tape keeps families stuck in overcrowded rentals. I’ll fight to fast-track affordable, infill homes near transit and cut the bureaucracy that’s making it too hard to say yes to housing. Let’s make it easier to build the homes our community needs.
Protecting Our Environment
Fort Collins is defined by its natural beauty from the foothills to the Poudre. Growth doesn’t have to mean sprawl. If we build smart, we can grow while protecting what makes our city special.
Build Smart to Protect Wild Spaces
Sprawl threatens our cherished wild places. By focusing growth in compact, walkable neighborhoods, we can safeguard open lands, preserve habitat, and reduce pollution. Building smart keeps nature close and communities connected.
Fight Climate Change Locally
Smarter land use means cleaner air and lower emissions. Walkable neighborhoods, better transit, and compact growth help Fort Collins fight climate change right here at home. We need to promote new electrification and home heating/cooling technologies.
Reduce Traffic & Air Pollution
Traffic shouldn’t rule our streets. Let’s make it easier to live near where you work and play. This will save us all time and money. Every time a person walks or bikes to work, that is one fewer car on the road and less traffic to deal with.
Boost Climate Resilience
As the climate changes, our neighborhoods must adapt. Shade trees, green infrastructure, and fire-ready homes make our city safer and stronger. We need to make smart investments to harden our city against fire danger.
Recreation and Youth Sports
I’ve been a coach for years and have seen how youth sports can build confidence, friendships, and community, but expensive and time-consuming travel leagues are leaving too many kids behind. Our community can do more to improve access to recreation and youth sports.
Expand Access
I support expanding scholarships and fee waivers for Fort Collins’ Recreator activities so more kids can access the fun and friendships of youth sports. We need to invest more in city leagues and classes--especially youth swimming lessons and summer camps.
Make it Safe to Get to Practice
Going to the park or practice should be safe for everyone. Sidewalks, bike paths, and crosswalks make that possible. When I am on city council I’ll prioritize expanding multiuse trails network and safe bikeways--including underpasses of busy streets, so kids can confidently get around Fort Collins safely with their friends.
Improve Facilities
Busy families need more and better recreation options here in Fort Collins. By collaborating with schools, local leagues, and community partners, the city can reduce costs, cut down on long drives, and make youth sports facilities more accessible to families.
